พิธีส่งมอบการเป็นประธาน ASEAN Committee in Rabat

เมื่อวันที่ 2 สิงหาคม 2559 ออท. ณ กรุงราบัต ได้เข้าร่วมพิธีส่งมอบการเป็นประธาน ASEAN Committee in Rabat (ACR) ซึ่งจัดขึ้นโดยสถานเอกอัครราชทูตสาธารณรัฐอินโดนีเซียประจำโมร็อกโก  ทั้งนี้ ประเทศที่ได้รับตำแหน่งประธาน ACR คือมาเลเซีย ซึ่งจะดำรงตำแหน่งจนถึงสิ้นปี 2559 และหลังจากนั้นไทยจะดำรงตำแหน่งประธานในปี 2560

ออท. อินโดนีเซียได้ใช้โอกาสพิธีดังกล่าวในการประชุม ACR ครั้งที่ 14 ซึ่งได้มีการหารือเกี่ยวกับพิธีชักธงอาเซียน ซึ่งจะจัดขึ้นในวันที่ 8 สิงหาคม 2559 (ซึ่งตรงกับวันอาเซียน) รวมทั้งแนวทางในการสร้างเสริมความตระหนักรู้เกี่ยวกับอาเซียนในโมร็อกโกต่อไป  ทั้งนี้ ไทยได้เสนอให้มีการแสดงความยินดี และจัดกิจกรรมเพื่อประชาสัมพันธ์ในประเด็นที่ที่ประชุมรัฐมนตรีกระทรวงต่างประเทศอาเซียน (AMM) ครั้งที่ 49 ได้เห็นชอบในการรับโมร็อกโกเข้าเป็นภาคีของ Treaty of Amity and Cooperation (TAC) ระหว่างการประชุมที่เวียงจันทน์ ประเทศลาว เมื่อวันที่ 24 กรกฎาคม 2559  นอกจากนี้ ไทยได้เสนอให้สถานเอกอัครราชทูตประเทศอาเซียนเข้าพบประธาน Confederation Generale des Entreprises Marocaine (สภาอุตสาหกรรมโมร็อกโก) ในลักษณะ joint call รวมทั้งร่วมกับกระทรวงการต่างประเทศโมร็อกโกในการทำแผนปฏิบัติการในการสร้างความตระหนักรู้เกี่ยวกับอาเซียนในโมร็อกโกต่อไป

ทั้งนี้ ACR ได้รับการจัดตั้งอย่างเป็นทางการเมื่อวันที่ 4 กุมภาพันธ์ 2559 ประกอบด้วยหัวหน้าสำนักงานจากประเทศอินโดนีเซีย มาเลเซีย ไทย เวียดนาม และบรูไน โดยมีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อส่งเสริมความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างอาเซียนกับโมร็อกโก

Ceremony for Handover of Chairmanship of ASEAN Committee in Rabat

On 2 August 2016, Ambassador of Thailand to Morocco attended the Ceremony for Hand Over of Chairmanship of ASEAN Committee in Rabat (ACR), organised by the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia. The new President is Malaysia and will hold the tenure until the end of 2016, after which Thailand will take chairmanship for 2017.

The ceremony was also an occasion for the 14th meeting of the ACR. The issues discussed during the meeting include the ASEAN Flag Raising Ceremony to be held on 8 August 2016 (on ASEAN day) and the way to raise awareness about ASEAN in Morocco. Concerning the latter, Thailand proposed that ACR congratulate and organize activities concerning Morocco's breakthrough in becoming part of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation (TAC), as it was only in 24 July 2016 that the Foreign Ministers of ASEAN Countries agreed to the request for accession to TAC by Morocco  during the 49th AMM meeting in Vientiane. Also, Thailand proposed that ACR conduct a joint call to the President of the Confederation Generale des Entreprises Marocaine (CGEM) and work with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Morocco to draft a Working Plan to raise awareness of ASEAN in Morocco.

ACR was formally inaugurated on 4 February 2016, and includes head of mission from Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, and Brunei. The main objective of ACR is to enhance the relations between ASEAN and Morocco.
